$268 Approximately 31" long.
Tanzanite is reddish brown in its raw state, requiring heat of 600 °C in a gemological oven to bring out its stunning blue violet aura. Legend has it that lightning struck an area in the Mount Kilimanjaro foothills causing the brown zoisite crystals to transorm. In 1967, Masai shepherds showed the rare gemstones to prospector Manuel D'Souza who had them tested. The gems then made their way to Tiffany's jewelers in New York where they were given the name Tanzanite and became one of the most coveted gemstones in the world. Not as hard as sapphire,Tanzanite rates a 6.5 to 7 on Mohs scale of hardness and should not be worn during excessive activity. Tanzanite should not be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, nor should it come into contact with acids or chemicals. Pollish gently with soft cloth.
